Reasons for my petition:

As a carer for my partner @JayneLinney I started this petition because she has been assessed by unqualified staff at ATOS numerous time and the one time she was assessed by a doctor when he wrote his report not only did he get things wrong but he could not even get her name right.

My partner suffers with a multitude of ailments, just like many many others do.

I know that their are and have been many other petitions aimed at trying to make changes to the disgusting cuts, taxes and changes to claiming the benefits that we are entitled to due to no fault of our own but just through our own bad luck.

This Government and the Department of Work and Pensions decided that we are not worthy of having our assessments dealt with by qualified professionals and that all is required are unqualified civil servants who sit in front of a computer, ask us questions and fill in a tick box. Then they have the audacity to tell you that you are not entitled to any benefit. We then have to go through this all over again at Tribunal and in the majority of cases they decide that you are entitled to benefit.

WHY?

All because the DWP and ATOS believe that we do not deserve to have our assessments dealt with by a qualified professional.

So if this has happened to you or people you know sign the petition and share it with others’

Ian Duncan Rimmer

Ian Duncan Smith: The Sane Choice

‘Do I detect a little anti-intellectualism here? Must’ve started about 1982 [the year Reagan was elected] I think’,

– Comedian Bill Hicks on being reproached for reading in a Virginia waffle house.

‘This man is dangerous. He believes his own propaganda.’

– German Conservative politician on Adolf Hitler.

Ian Duncan Smith doesn’t seem to like defending his policies rationally. His department has repeatedly refused demands to release the figures of the numbers of people, who have died due to being denied benefit support as a result of his reforms. Such requests are decried as ‘vexatious’. Other excuses for not releasing them include the straightforward admission that these would create public opposition to them, and prevent their implementation. Mike’s blogged about this a number of times on Vox Political, after his own request for the figures under the FOI was turned down. These statements…

Have you a DLA/ESA appointment, tribunal or hospital appointment: Can we help you:

Disability Enabling and Empowerment Project (Leic’s) (DEAEP) was set up in 2013 in response to identified needs; disabled, chronically sick and vulnerable people are increasingly required to demonstrate their need for the financially support necessary to survive, both often in employment, as well as not.

DEAEP is a social not for profit business that offers accredited training to  sick and disabled people, unemployed, and other vulnerable individuals. The training experience enables participants to, knowledgeably and confidently, actively support others during times of extreme stress; this could be attending ATOS assessments and, or to participate in social and community engagement.

So far we have a 100% success rate with people we have helped.

The rationale behind DEAEP:

Anyone who’s disabled or chronically ill in the UK 2013, is only to well aware of the devastating effects of The Welfare Reform Bill, whether it be someone on Incapacity Benefit (IB) waiting for the dreaded assessment onto Employment Support Allowance (ESA); a new claimant for ESA after losing their job, or a current ESA recipient  who’s almost at the one year cut off time. It might be a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) recipient waiting for the claim form to apply for the new  Personal Independence Payment (PiP)

These are just some of the ways that Welfare Reform is affecting those of us too ill to work or live with the ever increasing costs of being disabled.

What these changes all have in common is the growing number of ‘assessments’ we’re all forced to undergo.

Many of us who have already experienced the cold, inhumane and in some cases, downright dangerous process of being assessed by ATOS, already know the associated costs of these visits have on our health; from waiting for that now dreaded brown envelope, the energy it takes to complete the overly long, complex claim forms, the stress caused by actual ‘assessment’, through to the wait for the decision made at the DWP by a low level civil servant who might have had two days training in disability!

And then given that Sickness benefit appeals are up by 70% we are forced to enter the process of appealing.

None of this is news to many of us and many more disabled and sick people will also be au-fait with this process soon.

Many people on social networks like Facebook & Twitter have expressed the view that when they have someone to help them through this experience, whether it be form filling, support at ‘assessments’ or at appeal it has helped them; and it is this that DEAEP aims to do.

We can offer free accredited training for people to skill them up to then act as ‘supporters’ through this process.

We also can help with support at hospital/GP visits or in fact anywhere sick and disabled people feel having someone at their side to prompt them tell their story and get the truth across.

The training programme will also help participants in other areas, and can open doors to further education or even employment.

So if you are interested or require our help please contact us atwww.deaepleicester.moonfruit.com.

What are you going to do?

As we all know the disabled, sick, poor and most vulnerable people of the UK are  experiencing total discrimination and victimisation at the hands of this inept, corrupt, murderous and inhumane Coalition run Government.

We are hearing harrowing accounts of people who have felt that there was no other way out of their personal predicaments that they found themselves in due to having their benefits cut, suspended or sanctioned, having the inhumane and corrupt ‘bedroom tax’ enforced upon them. These poor people felt they had no other choice but to take their lives through suicide. R.I.P brothers and sisters.

Those of us who are in need of urgent and required medical treatment and appointments are being forced to worry and panic about whether there will be a Nation Health Service left to go to. Just imagine if all those people who are under consultants or doctors for their much needed medical treatments and advice are forced to pay from now on. The majority of these people would be unable to pay and therefore would be deprived of the treatment they desperately require.

If this was to happen we can expect there to many many pages of people who have committed suicide or prosecution cases to multiply against people assisting with suicides.

I suppose the Coalition Government will be rubbing their hands together hoping that this happens and of course ‘blame it all on past Labour Governments’.

Should we stand for this? NO

Should we allow this Government to push us around at their whim? NO

Should we stand up for those who can not for what ever reason? YES

Should we fight for our NHS? YES

Should we fight for our Human Rights? YES

SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS?????????

Private Eye on Fraud and Corruption on Workfare Schemes

Beastrabban\'s Weblog

gogol-dead-souls-en

Gogol’s book, ‘Dead Souls’, about a man who mortgages dead serfs.

Last fortnight’s issue also carried this story about allegations of fraud on its workfare programmes.

‘Fraud Popular

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP0 has been trying to bury bad news about allegations of fraud on its various welfare-to-work schemes even though some were so serious it referred them to the police for investigation.

According to the department’s Report on Contracted Employment Provision, which was slipped out on the DWP website nearly a year late and under cover of darkness, in 2012-13 the government received more allegations of fraud by workfare contractors than in previous years. Though the report named no names, it blamed the “substantial media and parliamentary scrutiny” of bad behaviour by firms like A4E and Working Links on the Work Programme and other jobs schemes.

The DWP believed there was a “case to answer” in five…
